Klee Stripe Pastels Cashmere Shawl
Inspired by Paul Klee’s “Kühlung in einem Garten der heissen Zone” and other drawings of his from the 1920’s, this oblong cashmere piece features a black painted pattern upon a gradient of pastels. The Klee Stripe Pastels design is one of our core designs, and is available in both cashmere and velvet. The cashmere Paul Klee scarves were designed in Sag Harbor by Lisa Kiss, then hand-painted for us by artisans in Jaipur, India. Limited Edition release.

Our cashmeres are produced by artisans in Jaipur, India, where painters carefully copy the original by hand to produce each shawl. The Hand-Painting Process
Each “run” of fabric, measuring a few meters long, begins as a blank white canvas. Lisa’s painting technique utilizes an ancient Japanese method of hanging fabric traditionally used to paint textiles for Kimonos. The full process can take up to four days to produce a finished scarf. Learn more about the process here.
About The Artist
Originally trained as a painter in the Old Masters style, Lisa Kiss has been hand-painting textiles for over 40 years. She began her business in Manhattan in the 1980’s, selling her hand-painted scarves and home textile collections to Barney’s, Nordstrom, ABC Carpet, and more.
